Fanuc 565 - Spindle voltage sensor error

SPINDLE VOLTAGE SENSOR ERROR

Fanuc spindle alarm 565: SPINDLE VOLTAGE SENSOR ERROR. The spindle drive or spindle motor has detected a fault condition that requires diagnosis before spindle operation can resume.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 565 indicates the spindle amplifier is detecting an abnormal voltage condition in the DC bus or motor voltage feedback circuit. This typically occurs due to faulty voltage sensing hardware, poor electrical connections in the voltage feedback loop, or actual overvoltage/undervoltage conditions caused by power supply issues or regenerative load problems.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Power down the machine and lock out all power sources. Visually inspect all connectors between the spindle motor and spindle drive unit, especially the voltage feedback connector (typically labeled VP or similar on the amplifier).

HIGH VOLTAGE PRESENT - Wait 5 minutes after power down for capacitors to discharge before opening any covers.

  2. 2

Check continuity of the voltage sensor wiring harness from the spindle amplifier control board to the power module. Look for damaged insulation, pinched wires, or loose crimps at connector pins.

  3. 3

Inspect the voltage detection PCB inside the spindle drive for burn marks, cracked solder joints, or damaged components. Reseat all internal connectors to the power module and control board.

  4. 4

If available, swap the voltage sensor board or feedback circuit board with a known good spare. Reset the alarm and test spindle operation. If alarm clears, replace the defective board permanently.
