Fanuc 572 - Spindle ae sensor error

SPINDLE AE SENSOR ERROR

Fanuc spindle alarm 572: SPINDLE AE SENSOR ERROR. The spindle drive or spindle motor has detected a fault condition that requires diagnosis before spindle operation can resume.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 572 indicates a failure in the Acoustic Emission (AE) sensor system used for spindle collision detection or tool breakage monitoring. This alarm typically occurs when the sensor signal is lost, degraded, or the sensor circuitry has failed, preventing the spindle drive from receiving proper feedback for collision/tool breakage protection.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Power off the machine and lock out all energy sources before inspection.

HIGH VOLTAGE - Ensure complete lockout/tagout procedure is followed

  2. 2

Locate the AE sensor cable connected to the spindle motor housing (typically a small coaxial or shielded cable separate from power cables).

  3. 3

Inspect the entire cable run for physical damage, cuts, pinch points, or coolant contamination. Check both connectors at the spindle motor and amplifier for corrosion, bent pins, or looseness.

  4. 4

Disconnect cable at both ends and perform continuity test on all conductors and shield. Replace cable if any open circuits or short circuits are found.
