Fanuc 577 - Spindle lubrication error

SPINDLE LUBRICATION ERROR

Fanuc spindle alarm 577: SPINDLE LUBRICATION ERROR. The spindle drive or spindle motor has detected a fault condition that requires diagnosis before spindle operation can resume.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 577 indicates the spindle lubrication system has failed to deliver proper lubrication to the spindle bearings or motor. This can be caused by low oil level, faulty lubrication pump, clogged lines, failed pressure/flow sensors, or broken relay/solenoid in the lubrication circuit.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Check the spindle lubrication oil reservoir level visually or via sight glass. Fill to proper level with manufacturer-specified spindle oil (typically ISO VG 32 or as specified).

Ensure machine power is OFF before opening reservoir. Use only approved spindle lubricant.

  2. 2

Inspect oil level sensor/float switch in reservoir for proper operation. Clean or replace if stuck or damaged.

  3. 3

Check for external oil leaks around spindle housing, lubrication lines, and fittings. Repair any leaks found.

  4. 4

After refilling, manually cycle the lubrication pump (using PMC or manual button) and verify oil flow to spindle. Reset alarm and test spindle operation.
