Fanuc 583 - Spindle chip flush error

SPINDLE CHIP FLUSH ERROR

Fanuc spindle alarm 583: SPINDLE CHIP FLUSH ERROR. The spindle drive or spindle motor has detected a fault condition that requires diagnosis before spindle operation can resume.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 583 indicates the spindle chip flush system has failed to activate, maintain proper pressure, or provide feedback confirmation when commanded by the CNC. This is typically caused by low coolant pressure, faulty solenoid valves, blocked chip flush nozzles, or failed pressure switches in the through-spindle coolant delivery system.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Check coolant tank level and refill if low. Verify coolant pump is running when chip flush is commanded.

  2. 2

Inspect and clean the coolant filter cartridges. Replace if heavily clogged or past service interval.

  3. 3

Verify chip flush pressure at the spindle using a pressure gauge. Should typically be 300-1000 PSI depending on machine specification.

  4. 4

Check pressure switch functionality by monitoring I/O signals during chip flush command. Replace pressure switch if no signal change occurs at proper pressure.
