Fanuc Alarm 362 - n AXIS: ABNORMAL REV. DATA (INT)

SYSTEM ALARM 362

Fanuc alarm 362: SYSTEM ALARM 362. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.

Root Cause Summary

Fanuc Alarm 362 indicates the servo amplifier has detected abnormal revolution data from the built-in pulse coder (serial encoder) on the specified axis motor. This typically occurs due to encoder communication errors, contaminated encoder signals, loose connections, or a failing motor pulse coder. The alarm protects against position feedback corruption that could cause machine crashes.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Power off the machine. Inspect the encoder cable from the motor to the amplifier connector (typically JD1A on αi series amplifiers). Check for physical damage, tight bends, or cable wear at the motor exit point.

Lock out main power before opening amplifier cabinet or touching motor cables

  2. 2

Disconnect and reconnect the encoder cable at both motor and amplifier ends. Inspect connector pins for bent contacts, contamination, or corrosion. Clean with contact cleaner if necessary. Verify connector locking mechanism is secure.

  3. 3

Check encoder cable routing for proximity to power cables or sources of electrical noise. Maintain minimum 100mm separation from motor power lines and verify proper shielding ground connection at amplifier end only.

  4. 4

Access DIAGNOSIS > SERVO screen and monitor parameter 300#0 (serial pulse coder alarm) and diagnostic 200-207 (position deviation) while jogging the axis slowly. Erratic values or alarm bit toggling confirms encoder signal issues.

DIY Feasiblemedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Encoder test consistently fails
  • ·Multiple axes showing same alarm
  • ·Amplifier replacement required

Prevention

  • Regular servo cable inspection
  • Maintain proper cable routing away from EMI sources
  • Annual encoder diagnostic testing
  • Keep servo connections clean and properly torqued

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring intermittent alarms until complete failure
  • Not checking cable routing after machine modifications
  • Replacing motor without checking amplifier first
  • Failing to backup parameters before component replacement
