Fanuc Alarm 327 - MODAL CANNOT EXECUTE MULTIPLE REPETITIVE CYCLES

SYSTEM ALARM 327

Fanuc alarm 327: SYSTEM ALARM 327. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.

Root Cause Summary

Fanuc Alarm 327 occurs when a multiple repetitive canned cycle (G70-G76 for turning, or G72-G73 for milling) is commanded while another modal canned cycle or incompatible G-code is already active. The control cannot execute multiple canned cycles simultaneously or in conflicting modal states. This is strictly a programming error where cycle calls are improperly nested or modal conditions are not cancelled before invoking a new cycle.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Review the program at the alarm line and preceding blocks. Identify all active canned cycles by tracing backwards from the alarm point to find G70-G76 commands that were not cancelled with G80 or a positioning G-code (G00/G01).

  2. 2

Insert G80 (canned cycle cancel) or G00 positioning move before the new multiple repetitive cycle command to explicitly cancel the previous modal cycle state.

  3. 3

Verify that multiple repetitive cycles are not nested within each other. Each G70-G76 cycle must complete and be cancelled before another can be invoked.

  4. 4

Check parameter 5101 (G-code system setting) to confirm the control is using the expected G-code system (A/B/C). Some cycles behave differently across systems and may cause modal conflicts.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter changes required
  • ·Persistent alarm after program corrections
  • ·Machine-specific OEM restrictions identified

Prevention

  • Always program canned cycles in main program
  • Establish modal states before cycle initiation
  • Use consistent coordinate systems throughout cycles
  • Avoid G52 local coordinates with repetitive cycles

Common Mistakes

  • Programming cycles within subroutines
  • Changing H-codes during cycle repetitions
  • Using G91 incremental mode with multiple cycles
  • Activating G52 during repetitive operations
