Fanuc Alarm 176 - ILLEGAL G-CODE USE IN G07.1 MODE
Alarm 176 occurs when a G-code incompatible with cylindrical interpolation (G07.1) is commanded while G07.1 mode is active. Certain codes like canned cycles, polar coordinate interpolation, or other incompatible motion commands cannot execute during cylindrical interpolation and must be canceled or avoided.

SYSTEM ALARM 176
Fanuc alarm 176: SYSTEM ALARM 176. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 176 occurs when a G-code incompatible with cylindrical interpolation (G07.1) is commanded while G07.1 mode is active. Certain codes like canned cycles, polar coordinate interpolation, or other incompatible motion commands cannot execute during cylindrical interpolation and must be canceled or avoided.
Causes and Fixes
Review the NC program at the alarm line and identify which G-code triggered the alarm. Common incompatible codes include G73-G89 (canned cycles), G12.1/G13.1 (polar interpolation), G41/G42 (cutter compensation), G68 (coordinate rotation).
Insert G07.1 P0 command before the incompatible G-code to cancel cylindrical interpolation mode. Ensure this is done at a safe position where cylindrical mode is no longer needed.
If cylindrical interpolation is needed again later, re-enable with G07.1 C_ after completing the incompatible operation, specifying the correct cylindrical axis.
Verify parameter 1022 bit 5 (G07.1 enable) is set to 1. Navigate to SYSTEM > PARAM > search P1022 to confirm cylindrical interpolation is enabled in machine parameters.
