Fanuc 177 - Stored stroke limit check invalid
Alarm 177 occurs when the stored stroke limit parameters are improperly configured or corrupted, preventing the control from validating machine travel limits. This typically happens after parameter changes, memory battery failure, or when stroke limit reference positions are not properly set. The control cannot perform stroke limit checking without valid reference data.
Fanuc 177 - Stored stroke limit check invalid
STORED STROKE LIMIT CHECK INVALID
Fanuc PS program alarm 177: STORED STROKE LIMIT CHECK INVALID. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 177 occurs when the stored stroke limit parameters are improperly configured or corrupted, preventing the control from validating machine travel limits. This typically happens after parameter changes, memory battery failure, or when stroke limit reference positions are not properly set. The control cannot perform stroke limit checking without valid reference data.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Check parameter 1320 (stored stroke limit setting) bits to verify stored stroke limit is enabled for the affected axes.
Verify parameters 1321-1324 (stored stroke limit +) and 1325-1328 (stored stroke limit -) contain valid numerical values, not zeros or corrupted data.
Perform a reference return (homing) cycle for all axes to re-establish the machine coordinate system reference point.
Ensure machine area is clear and all axes can safely reach home position
If alarm persists after homing, set stored stroke limit reference position by executing G22 command after confirming parameters are correct.
