Fanuc Alarm 076 - PROGRAM NOT FOUND

PROGRAM NOT FOUND

Fanuc PS076: A called subprogram or macro program was not found in CNC memory or the specified device (USB, tape, etc.). The M98 P-number or macro call references a program that does not exist.

Root Cause Summary

Fanuc Alarm 076 occurs when a parameter requiring a power cycle to take effect has been modified. This is a system notification rather than a fault, indicating that certain parameters are stored in non-volatile memory and only loaded during the boot sequence. The alarm will clear automatically once the CNC control is powered off and restarted.

Safety

  • Parameter will not take effect until restart

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Press SYSTEM key, navigate to PARAM screen and verify which parameter was recently modified. Note the parameter number for reference.

  2. 2

Document the parameter change if this is a critical system modification. Common parameters requiring power cycle include 1020 (axis configuration), 1815 (servo parameters), 1000-series (basic system parameters), and I/O Link configuration parameters.

Ensure all active machining operations are complete and workpiece is secured before proceeding with power cycle.

  3. 3

Place machine in safe condition: Return all axes to home position, stop spindle, clear any active programs, and ensure no emergency conditions exist.

  4. 4

Turn off the main control power using the circuit breaker or main power switch. Wait minimum 10 seconds for capacitors to fully discharge, then power on the control. Alarm 076 will clear and parameter changes will take effect.

Never use EMERGENCY STOP button as a substitute for proper power cycle. Complete power down is required for parameter initialization.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter corruption suspected
  • ·Hardware failure of storage devices
  • ·Persistent alarm after verifying all programs exist

Prevention

  • Maintain organized program numbering system
  • Keep backup copies of all subprograms
  • Document M98 call relationships
  • Regularly verify external storage device functionality

Common Mistakes

  • Assuming O1 and O0001 are equivalent
  • Forgetting to set external device parameters
  • Not checking case sensitivity on program names
  • Overlooking nested subprogram calls
