Fanuc Alarm 082 - G37 SPECIFIED WITH H CODE

G37 SPECIFIED WITH H CODE

Fanuc PS082: An H code (tool length offset number) was programmed in the same block as a G37 tool length measurement command. G37 does not allow an H code in the measurement block.

Root Cause Summary

FANUC Alarm 082 occurs when the automatic tool change (ATC) sequence does not complete within the time limit specified in the ladder or PMC timer parameters. This typically indicates mechanical binding, air pressure issues, pneumatic valve failures, or incorrect timer settings preventing the tool change completion signal from reaching the CNC within the expected timeframe.

Safety

  • Do not force mechanism

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Check air pressure supply to ATC system. Verify minimum 5-6 bar (70-85 PSI) at the machine. Inspect pressure gauges and listen for air leaks at solenoid valves and cylinders.

  2. 2

Navigate to DIAGNOSIS > PMC > PMC-A to monitor ATC signals. Verify input signals for tool unclamped (TUCL), tool clamped (TCLP), arm advanced/retracted, and magazine position. Cross-reference with ladder diagram I/O addresses.

  3. 3

Manually jog the ATC through one cycle using MPG or manual ATC functions if available. Observe for mechanical resistance, unusual noise, or slow cylinder movement indicating binding or worn components.

Ensure spindle is stopped and machine is in safe position before manual ATC operation.

  4. 4

Inspect tool grippers, pull studs, and retention knobs for damage or debris. Check carousel bearings and alignment. Lubricate ATC components per maintenance manual specifications.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter 6254 changes required but no access
  • ·Custom macro modifications needed
  • ·Persistent alarm after program corrections

Prevention

  • Always separate G37 and H codes into different program blocks
  • Use G49 to cancel compensation before tool measurement
  • Verify parameter 6254 settings match programming style

Common Mistakes

  • Programming G37 H01 in same block
  • Not canceling active compensation before measurement
  • Assuming G37 automatically applies H compensation
