Fanuc 68 - Offset number overflow
Alarm 068 occurs when the offset number specified in a G-code command (G43, G44, G41, G42, or wear offset) exceeds the maximum number of offsets available in the control's memory. This is typically caused by calling an offset number larger than the configured memory allows, or by specifying an invalid offset format in the part program.
Fanuc 68 - Offset number overflow
OFFSET NUMBER OVERFLOW
Fanuc PS program alarm 68: OFFSET NUMBER OVERFLOW. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 068 occurs when the offset number specified in a G-code command (G43, G44, G41, G42, or wear offset) exceeds the maximum number of offsets available in the control's memory. This is typically caused by calling an offset number larger than the configured memory allows, or by specifying an invalid offset format in the part program.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Identify the line number where the alarm occurred and note the specific offset command (G43 H__, G41 D__, etc.).
Check parameters 6001-6004 (mill) or 5001-5004 (lathe) to verify maximum offset memory allocation for tool length, cutter compensation, and geometry offsets.
Compare the offset number called in the program against the maximum available offsets shown in parameters.
Either reduce the offset number in the program to stay within range, or increase the offset memory allocation in parameters if control memory permits.
Changing offset memory parameters may require control restart and could affect existing offset data.
