Fanuc Alarm 044 - G27-G30 NOT ALLOWED IN FIXED CYC
Fanuc Alarm 044 occurs when a reference return command (G27, G28, G29, or G30) is programmed while a canned cycle (G73-G89) is still active in modal memory. The controller requires the canned cycle to be explicitly cancelled with G80 before executing reference return operations to prevent unpredictable tool path conflicts.
Fanuc Alarm 044 - G27-G30 NOT ALLOWED IN FIXED CYC
FANUC ALARM 44
One of G27 to G30 was commanded in canned cycle mode. Cancel canned cycle before commanding reference return.
Root Cause Summary
Fanuc Alarm 044 occurs when a reference return command (G27, G28, G29, or G30) is programmed while a canned cycle (G73-G89) is still active in modal memory. The controller requires the canned cycle to be explicitly cancelled with G80 before executing reference return operations to prevent unpredictable tool path conflicts.
Causes and Fixes
In MDI or EDIT mode, review the program block that triggered the alarm. Identify which canned cycle (G73, G74, G76, G80-G89) was last commanded before the G27-G30 reference return.
Insert G80 (canned cycle cancel) on the line immediately before the G27/G28/G29/G30 command. Ensure it is on a separate block or at the beginning of the reference return block.
Reset the alarm using the RESET key, return to program start or safe position, and restart the program to verify the G80 cancellation resolves the alarm.
After alarm reset, verify machine position on POSITION > ABSOLUTE screen before restarting to ensure no collision risk.
Check parameter 3405#0 (G28 reference return check) if set to 1, it enables strict modal checking. Review program structure to ensure all canned cycles include proper G80 cancellation before motion mode changes.
