Siemens 840D 75016 - Channel block CLC: orientation changed for TRAFOOF

Channel block CLC: orientation changed for TRAFOOF

Siemens SINUMERIK alarm 75016: Channel block CLC: orientation changed for TRAFOOF. This alarm indicates a fault or error condition on the SINUMERIK 840D control. Refer to the Siemens SINUMERIK alarm documentation for the complete description and remedy.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 75016 fires when 2D/3D clearance control (TRAFOOF) is re-enabled with rotary axis settings that produce a tool orientation different from the G17/G18/G19 plane that was active when CLC was disabled. The NCK detects an orientation mismatch between the stored control direction and the new transformation setup, requiring an explicit orientation step change in the NC program.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Check the NC program block sequence around the alarm occurrence. Identify the TRAFOOF OFF command (disables clearance control) and the subsequent TRAFOOF ON command (re-enables it).

Review intermediate blocks for rotary axis movements (A, B, C axis commands or ROTS/ROT parameters) between the TRAFOOF OFF and TRAFOOF ON commands.

  2. 2

Verify the G17/G18/G19 plane active when TRAFOOF OFF was executed. This plane direction becomes the stored control direction in the transformation.

If rotary axes change orientation between TRAFOOF OFF and TRAFOOF ON, the tool direction relative to the workpiece will differ, triggering the alarm.

  3. 3

Insert an explicit orientation step change (ORIACOS or manual orientation command) immediately before the TRAFOOF ON command to synchronize the tool orientation with the new rotary axis configuration.

Use ORIACOS in the NC program or manually set rotary axis positions to match the expected tool orientation before re-enabling CLC.

  4. 4

Test the corrected program block sequence to confirm the alarm no longer triggers and the tool path follows the intended clearance control strategy.
