Safety
Causes and Fixes
Access Diagnostics > Tool Management in the MMC. Verify actual magazine occupancy against MD 20050 (tool magazine max capacity). Compare physical magazine state against the NCK's internal location bitmap.
Do not force tool changes while magazine is full; this can damage the tool changer.
Check PLC tool magazine status via the tool changer interface (typically OB 240 tool change routine). Review the location bitmap in the tool management DB to ensure empty slots are correctly flagged. If bitmap is incorrect, perform a manual magazine inventory via MMC Setup > Tool Management > Refresh Inventory.
Verify MD 20070 (tool magazine location type) and MD 24100-24199 (tool location assignment table) are correctly configured for your magazine geometry. Confirm that occupied/empty slot flags match physical reality by manually checking 3-5 random locations.
If bitmap corruption is suspected, perform a warm restart of the NCK (Diagnostics > System > Warm Start). This forces the tool management system to reinitialize the location table from EEPROM parameters.
