Siemens 62201 - Block : Z offset does not influence the retraction planes.
Alarm 62201 fires when a programmable Z-axis offset (tool length compensation via MD 32010 or SD 42410) is applied during execution of the F_SP_RP (Find Spindle Reference Point) cycle, which calculates retraction planes relative to the workpiece coordinate system. Since retraction planes are workpiece-referenced, any offset applied to the tool axis does not geometrically influence these planes, creating a potential collision condition that the NCK detects and suppresses via the alarm.
Siemens 62201 - Block : Z offset does not influence the retraction planes.
Block: Z offset does not influence the retraction planes.
The retraction planes refer to the workpiece. Therefore, programmable offsets do not influence the retraction planes
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 62201 fires when a programmable Z-axis offset (tool length compensation via MD 32010 or SD 42410) is applied during execution of the F_SP_RP (Find Spindle Reference Point) cycle, which calculates retraction planes relative to the workpiece coordinate system. Since retraction planes are workpiece-referenced, any offset applied to the tool axis does not geometrically influence these planes, creating a potential collision condition that the NCK detects and suppresses via the alarm.

Causes and Fixes
Access Diagnostics > Offsets menu and verify SD 42410 (active tool length offset value). Note the current offset magnitude and sign.
Do not modify SD 42410 while spindle is rotating; use M5 to stop spindle first.
Review the NC program block calling F_SP_RP; confirm whether a G43/G44 tool offset activation precedes the cycle call. Check MD 32010 (tool offset application method) to confirm offset compensation is active.
Measure the physical distance between the current tool tip position and the workpiece reference plane. Verify that the retraction plane height (typically stored in cycle parameters) provides adequate clearance without the offset influencing the calculation.
Use manual jog mode (JOG) with reduced feedrate to probe clearance safely.
Cancel the active tool offset (G49 command) before calling F_SP_RP, or pre-position the tool such that the offset does not create a collision risk. Then rerun the cycle.
