62202

Siemens 62202 - Block : NOTICE: tool travels directly to machining!

Block: NOTICE: tool travels directly to machining!

After block search a position is to be reached by direct approach

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 62202 fires after block search (F_TFS cycle) when the NCK calculates a direct linear approach to the target position without intermediate positioning moves. This is a NOTICE-level alarm indicating potential collision risk if the tool path from current position to machining start point is obstructed.

Safety

  • Only qualified personnel should diagnose and clear control alarms; follow the machine builder's safety procedures and lockout/tagout where hardware work is required.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Access Diagnostics menu: NCK → Alarms → Select alarm 62202 → Review block number and channel. Verify workpiece geometry and fixture layout match current setup.

  2. 2

Check MD20050 (RETRACT_DISTANCE_PLANE) and MD20110 (TOOL_CHANGE_POS) values via Siemens HMI or NCK Parameter menu. Ensure retract plane Z-height provides adequate clearance above workpiece clamps and fixtures.

Modifying these parameters requires machine re-initialization; coordinate with setup personnel first.

  3. 3

Review the NC program block preceding alarm trigger. Verify no G28/G29 or manual positioning has moved the tool into obstruction. Use Trace mode (HMI → Diagnostics → NCK Trace) to visualize tool path history.

  4. 4

If collision risk is confirmed, manually jog tool to safe retract position using MDI mode, then resume program with NC Start. Update future programs to include explicit retract commands (e.g., G91 G28) before critical block searches.
