Siemens 840D 62100 - Channel block: No drilling cycle active
Alarm 62100 fires when HOLES1 or HOLES2 drilling pattern cycles are invoked without first establishing a modal drilling cycle context in the NCK block sequence. The SINUMERIK 840D requires a parent drilling cycle (CYCLE81, CYCLE82, CYCLE83, or CYCLE84) to be active before pattern cycles can execute their interpolation logic.
Siemens 840D 62100 - Channel block: No drilling cycle active
Channel block: No drilling cycle active
Siemens SINUMERIK alarm 62100: Channel block: No drilling cycle active. This alarm indicates a fault or error condition on the SINUMERIK 840D control. Refer to the Siemens SINUMERIK alarm documentation for the complete description and remedy.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 62100 fires when HOLES1 or HOLES2 drilling pattern cycles are invoked without first establishing a modal drilling cycle context in the NCK block sequence. The SINUMERIK 840D requires a parent drilling cycle (CYCLE81, CYCLE82, CYCLE83, or CYCLE84) to be active before pattern cycles can execute their interpolation logic.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Review the NC program block sequence in HMI Diagnostics > Program > Block List view. Verify that CYCLE81/82/83/84 appears in a prior block before the HOLES1/HOLES2 call at the alarm-reported block number %2.
Check for program jumps (GOTOF, GOTOB) or conditional blocks (IF statements) that may skip the drilling cycle initialization.
Confirm the drilling cycle call syntax is correct: e.g., 'CYCLE81(3.5, 50, 200, 0.5)' for depth, feedrate, spindle speed, and peck increment. Verify parameter count matches the SINUMERIK cycle definition in the machine builder's cycle library.
Check Siemens MD parameter MD11100 (CycleModeSG0) and MD11101 (CycleModeSG1) to confirm cycle modal behavior is enabled. These parameters control whether cycle state persists across blocks in the NCK.
If disabled, each cycle block must explicitly re-invoke the parent drilling cycle.
Insert the drilling cycle call in the block immediately before HOLES1/HOLES2. Example: Block N10 CYCLE81(...); Block N20 HOLES1(...). Then reload and re-execute the program from the NC file.
