Siemens 61287 - no master spindle active.
Alarm 61287 occurs when the F_TFS (Fineposition Threading Function Set) cycle attempts to execute on a channel without an active master spindle assignment. The SINUMERIK 840D requires explicit master spindle configuration via machine data parameters and NCK spindle linkage before thread-form cycles can execute.

Root Cause Summary
Alarm 61287 occurs when the F_TFS (Fineposition Threading Function Set) cycle attempts to execute on a channel without an active master spindle assignment. The SINUMERIK 840D requires explicit master spindle configuration via machine data parameters and NCK spindle linkage before thread-form cycles can execute.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Navigate to Diagnostics > Machine Data > MD20050 (SpindleAssignToChannel) and verify the spindle number matches an active spindle axis in your configuration (typically spindle 1 for primary threading operations).
Check MD20051 (SpindleType) is set to 1 (main spindle) not 0 (sub-spindle). Verify MD20055 (SpindleNumberOfSpindles) reflects the correct spindle count.
Incorrect spindle type assignment will prevent F_TFS cycle execution.
Confirm the assigned spindle axis exists in the axis configuration (NCK menu: Machine Data > Axes/Spindles) and that the spindle motor encoder/feedback path (feedback module assignment MD31010-MD31020 range) is active.
Download updated machine data to the control via Commissioning > Download MachineData and cycle power to the NCK.
