Siemens 840D 61215 - Channel Block: Unfinished dimension incorrectly programmed

Channel Block: Unfinished dimension incorrectly programmed

Check the blank spigot dimensions. The blank spigot must be larger than the production part spigot. Alarm triggered by following cycles: CYCLE76, CYCLE77, E_PI_CIR, E_PI_REC, E_PO_CIR, E_PO_REC, F_PI_CIR, F_PI_REC, F_PO_CIR, F_PO_REC Remedy: Check parameters _AP1 and _AP2. 2-516 © Siemens AG, 2006.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • Blank spigot dimensions programmed smaller than or equal to production part spigot dimensions
  • Incorrect _AP1 parameter value for unfinished dimension in active cycle
  • Incorrect _AP2 parameter value for unfinished dimension in active cycle
  • Wrong cycle selected for the part geometry or spigot configuration
  • Dimensional interference where allowance material is insufficient for machining

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify blank spigot dimensions against production part spigot dimensions in the part print; blank must be larger to allow machining allowance
  2. 2Review the NC program block listed in the alarm message and identify which cycle is active (CYCLE76, CYCLE77, or E_PI/E_PO/F_PI/F_PO variants)
  3. 3Check _AP1 and _AP2 parameter values in the active cycle call; confirm they represent the unfinished dimensions and exceed the final production part dimensions
  4. 4Recalculate machining allowance and reprogram cycle parameters with correct dimensional values, ensuring blank size accommodates tool approach and material removal
  5. 5Test the corrected program on a trial part or in simulation mode before running production
