61186

Siemens 61186 - Block : Invalid rotary axis vectors --> Check setup of the swivel cycle

Block: Invalid rotary axis vectors --> Check setup of the swivel cycle

No or incorrect entry for rotary axis vector V1 or V2

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 61186 indicates that CYCLE800 (5-axis swivel cycle) cannot execute because rotary axis vectors V1 and/or V2 are missing, undefined, or incorrectly configured in the machine data. These vectors define the orientation and kinematics of the swivel head axes required for simultaneous 5-axis interpolation.

Safety

  • Only qualified personnel should diagnose and clear control alarms; follow the machine builder's safety procedures and lockout/tagout where hardware work is required.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to Diagnostics > Machine Data > Rotary Axes in SINUMERIK HMI or use ShopMill/ShopTurn interface. Locate MD10200 (Swivel axis vector V1) and MD10210 (Swivel axis vector V2).

  2. 2

Verify V1 and V2 are non-zero and normalized (magnitude ≈ 1.0). Typical values are V1=[0,0,1] for vertical swivel and V2=[1,0,0] for horizontal swivel, depending on machine kinematics. Check OEM documentation for your specific swivel head configuration.

Do not enter arbitrary values; incorrect vectors will cause collision or part damage.

  3. 3

If parameters are missing or invalid, edit via Siemens SINUMERIK Operate (manual data input) or import from machine commissioning file. Re-transmit to NCK and perform warm restart (Ctrl+Shift+R) to reload machine data into active memory.

  4. 4

Call CYCLE800 in a test program with controlled feedrate (G00 positioning only) to validate vector interpretation. Monitor actual swivel axis motion against expected orientation.
