61189

Siemens 61189 - Block : Swivel direct: Invalid rotary axis positions:

Block: Swivel direct: Invalid rotary axis positions

Swivel direct: Check input values of rotary axes

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 61189 occurs when CYCLE800 (3D swivel cycle) detects rotary axis positions outside acceptable angular limits or invalid positioning states. This servo-class alarm indicates the NCK cannot establish valid swivel geometry due to axis constraints, parameter misconfiguration, or mechanical limits being exceeded during rotary axis initialization.

Safety

  • Only qualified personnel should diagnose and clear control alarms; follow the machine builder's safety procedures and lockout/tagout where hardware work is required.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

In NCK > Diagnosis > Actual Values, verify current rotary axis positions. Cross-reference against machine documentation for acceptable swivel range (typically B-axis: -180/+180°, A-axis: -90/+90°).

Do not manually jog rotary axes beyond soft limits without first consulting mechanical design limits.

  2. 2

Access HMI > Parameters > Machine Data > Axis [rotary axis number] > MD32500 (max position limit) and MD32501 (min position limit). Verify values match machine geometry and CYCLE800 requirements.

  3. 3

If positions are valid but outside limits, execute manual JOG movement (not CYCLE800) to reposition rotary axes within acceptable range, then retry CYCLE800 initialization.

Use direct swivel mode (MD18110 = 0) for manual JOG to avoid automatic swivel logic.

  4. 4

If limits are incorrect, update MD32500/MD32501 to machine specifications, perform SAG (Save and Go) to activate parameter changes, and verify with diagnostic readout before restarting CYCLE800.

Parameter changes require machine unlock/enable cycle.
