Siemens 4034 - Local link axis is not allowed for different interpolation cycle time = /

Local link axis is not allowed for different interpolation cycle time = /

Local link axes are only permissible on an NCU if the interpolation cycle set corresponds to the slowest interpolation cycle of the interconnected NCU systems Control reaction: NC not ready. Channel not ready. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 4034 fires when a local link axis is configured on the NCU with an interpolation cycle time that differs from the slowest interpolation cycle time of all interconnected NCU systems in the link configuration. The SINUMERIK system requires synchronization of interpolation cycles across all linked NCUs to maintain coordinated axis motion and timing consistency.

Safety

  • Only qualified personnel should diagnose and clear control alarms; follow the machine builder's safety procedures and lockout/tagout where hardware work is required.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Access Siemens SINUMERIK 840D HMI menu: Diagnostics > Machine Data > MD 31010 (INTERPOLATION_TIME_MS) and note the current interpolation cycle time in milliseconds.

  2. 2

Query all linked NCU systems via NCK communication parameters (MD 39000-39999 range) to identify the slowest interpolation cycle time configured on any slave/linked NCU.

Verify link configuration in MD 39010 (LINK_NCU_NUMBER) and associated link parameters.

  3. 3

Modify MD 31010 on the local NCU to match or exceed the slowest interpolation cycle time detected in the linked NCU ensemble. For example, if a slave NCU runs 12ms cycles, set the master to minimum 12ms.

  4. 4

Reactivate machine parameters (Diagnostics > Machine Data > Activate) and reset the NCU. Verify alarm 4034 is cleared and monitor system synchronization via Diagnostics > Axis Information.

Parameter activation requires NCU in offline mode; moving axes are disabled during this operation.
