Siemens 27110 - Axis fault during data transmission index .
Alarm 27110 indicates a critical NCK-to-drive communication failure where the cyclic data cross-check (CRC verification) between the 840D controller and servo drive has failed three consecutive times. This typically stems from corrupted telegram transmission, parameter synchronization errors, or electrical interference in the drive communication link.
Siemens 27110 - Axis fault during data transmission index .
Axis fault during data transmission index.
Faulty communication between NCK and drive caused that data cross-check of data and indicated index could not be executed three times in a row Control reaction: Alarm display. In addition, a Stop F is triggered that may cause follow-up alarm 27001 with error code 0 as well as alarms 27023 and 27024. Alarm 27001 with error code 0 can be avoided by alarm reduction ($MA_SAFE_ALARM_SUPPRESS_LEVEL higher or equal to 1).

Safety
Causes and Fixes
Verify encoder cable shielding and termination. Check that motor feedback cables (RESOLVER or ENCODER feedback) are routed separately from power cables, minimum 150mm spacing per Siemens guidelines. Inspect connectors X521/X522 (or equivalent feedback connectors) for oxidation or pin corrosion.
Do not touch encoder connectors without grounding yourself; static discharge can permanently damage drive electronics.
Read drive diagnostics using HMI menu: DIAGNOSIS > SERVO DRIVES > [Axis] > COMMUNICATION STATUS. Check for 'Telegram Errors' or 'CRC Fail Counter'. Compare against baseline; sustained increases indicate electrical interference rather than transient glitches.
If CRC errors persist, perform a DRIVE FIRMWARE CHECK: In Siemens STARTER or NCK interface, navigate to HARDWARE > DRIVE CONFIGURATION > [affected axis] and verify drive firmware version matches NCK firmware release level (e.g., both v4.92 or both v5.17). Mismatched versions can cause protocol negotiation failures.
Cycle power to the complete axis (motor contactor OFF for 30 seconds minimum) to force NCK and drive re-synchronization. This clears transient telegram queue errors and resets the CRC fail counter. If alarm returns within 1 hour of runtime, the issue is persistent, not transient.
