Siemens 26030 - Axis encoder absolute position lost
Alarm 26030 fires when the NCK detects a mismatch between the stored absolute encoder position and the current encoder configuration, typically caused by gear ratio changes in the MD parameter block or encoder hardware replacement. The absolute position reference becomes invalid because the relationship between encoder counts and machine axis position has fundamentally changed.
Siemens 26030 - Axis encoder absolute position lost
Axis encoder absolute position lost
The absolute position of the absolute encoder has become invalid because - on changing parameter block a changed gear stage ratio was identified between encoder and processing or - the encoder has been replaced (the absolute encoder's serial number has changed, see MD34230 $MA_ENC_SERIAL_NUMBER, and drive-specific parameters) Control reaction: Mode group not ready. The NC switches to follow-up mode. Channel not ready. NC Start disable in this channel. Axes of this channel must be re-referenced. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm. Channel not ready.

Causes and Fixes
Access Diagnostics > Parameter > Machine Data on the 840D HMI. Navigate to MD32100 (GEARING_TYPE) and compare current value against the last known working configuration documented in your commissioning records.
Do not modify these parameters without documentation of original settings.
Verify MD32110 GEAR_RATIO_NUMERATOR and MD32120 GEAR_RATIO_DENOMINATOR values. Check the axis-specific parameters for the affected encoder (typically MD32010 ENCODER_TYPE confirms absolute encoder presence).
If parameters were intentionally changed, perform an encoder replacement procedure: use NCK > Diagnostics > Encoder Replacement mode to reinitialize the absolute position with current encoder serial number.
This clears the absolute position memory; machine must be re-referenced to a known position immediately after.
Restore original parameter values from backup if the ratio change was unintended, then cycle power to re-establish absolute position validity.
