Siemens 26017 - Axis machine data [ ] invalid value
Alarm 26017 indicates that a machine data parameter for the specified axis contains a value outside the valid range or of an invalid data type. This occurs during NCK initialization or axis commissioning when the system validates MD entries against their permissible limits, typically affecting overtravel-related parameters like MD32100 (Max. feedrate), MD32110 (Axis-specific limits), or MD34100 (Overtravel positive/negative).
Siemens 26017 - Axis machine data [ ] invalid value
Axis machine data value
Machine data includes a value that is not valid Control reaction: NC not ready. The NC switches to follow-up mode. Mode group not ready, also effective for single axes. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm.

Causes and Fixes
Access Siemens HMI > Diagnostics > Alarms and note the %2 parameter number and %3 index. Cross-reference in SINUMERIK 840D Parameter Manual (e.g., MD32100 = Max Feedrate, MD34100 = Overtravel positive limit).
In NCK > Machine Data menu, locate the flagged MD and verify the current value. Check axis datasheet for valid range (typically 0.001 to 9999.999 for feedrate; overtravel limits must be positive and ≤ axis stroke).
Do not save invalid values; verify mechanical axis limits first.
Correct the MD value to fall within valid range. For MD34100/MD34101, ensure both positive and negative overtravel limits are defined and non-zero. Use NCK editor to modify and activate the change.
Perform warm restart (Ctrl+Warm Start) or cold restart to reload machine data. Verify alarm 26017 clears and axis initializes without error.
