Siemens 26016 - Axis machine data invalid value

Axis machine data invalid value

Machine data includes a value that is not valid Control reaction: NC not ready. The NC switches to follow-up mode. Mode group not ready, also effective for single axes. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 26016 fires when the NCK detects an invalid or out-of-range value in axis-specific machine data during startup or runtime validation. This typically involves soft limit parameters (MD 36000-36010), axis configuration data (MD 32000-32100), or kinematic machine data that fails value plausibility checks in the SINUMERIK control firmware.

Safety

  • Only qualified personnel should diagnose and clear control alarms; follow the machine builder's safety procedures and lockout/tagout where hardware work is required.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to Siemens HMI > Diagnostic > Machine Data. Filter by axis (e.g., 'X Axis') and locate MD 36000 (Lower soft limit) and MD 36010 (Upper soft limit).

Do not edit while machine is in AUTO mode or axes are enabled.

  2. 2

Verify MD 36000 < MD 36010 and both values are within physical machine limits (compare against MD 32010 Maximum rapid traverse and mechanical travel documentation).

  3. 3

Check MD 32000 (Axis type: 0=linear, 1=rotary) and MD 32010 (Max rapid traverse) for consistency with soft limit span; rotary axes typically allow ±360 or ±180 degree spans.

  4. 4

If values are incorrect, correct them in HMI machine data editor, then execute 'Save Parameters' (Ctrl+S) and perform a warm restart (Ctrl+Alt+Delete on control or cycle power to NCK module).

Restarting the control will reinitialize all axes; ensure machine is in safe position.
