Siemens 840D 26024 - Axis machine data value changed

Axis machine data value changed

Siemens SINUMERIK alarm 26024: Axis machine data value changed. This alarm indicates a fault or error condition on the SINUMERIK 840D control. Refer to the Siemens SINUMERIK alarm documentation for the complete description and remedy.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 26024 indicates that the NCK software detected an invalid value in axis-specific machine data (MD) and automatically corrected it to a permissible range. This occurs when MD parameters controlling axis motion limits, acceleration rates, or velocity constraints fall outside hardware-defined boundaries or violate internal consistency rules.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to Diagnostics > Machine Data > Axis Parameters. Locate MD3210 (pos. overtravel) and MD3220 (neg. overtravel) for the affected axis.

Note the auto-corrected values shown in the alarm message.

  2. 2

    Verify MD3000 (axis length) is correctly dimensioned and compare against MD3210/MD3220. Ensure: MD3220 < 0 and MD3210 > 0, with |MD3220| + MD3210 ≤ MD3000.

  3. 3

If values are intentionally out of range, recalculate based on machine geometry. Edit MD3210 and MD3220 via Siemens HMI or NCK editor, then perform a 'Write MD to NCK' operation.

Always backup MD before modification using Service > Save/Restore > Save Machine Data.

  4. 4

Power-cycle the control or use Service > Reset Machine Data to reload corrected parameters. Verify no 26024 reoccurs on the next axis jog or program cycle.
