Okuma OSP Alarm B 2709 - Sub-spindle synchronization interlock

Sub-spindle synchronization interlock

The control rejected an M151 sub-spindle synchronized rotation command because the machine conditions required for synchronization were not met. Either both spindle chucks were clamped at the same time, or the command was issued while the C-axis was still engaged.

Common Causes

  • M151 commanded while both the main and sub-spindle chucks are clamped (Code 3)
  • M151 commanded while the C-axis is still joined/engaged (Code 4)
  • Program sequencing error, e.g. issuing M151 before the required unclamp or C-axis release commands

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 3 = M151 was commanded while both spindle chucks were clamped; code 4 = M151 was commanded while the C-axis was being joined
  2. 2Read the code shown with the alarm to identify which condition blocked the M151 command.
  3. 3Code 3: check the program sequence so one chuck is unclamped before M151 is issued; both chucks must not be clamped simultaneously during synchronized rotation.
  4. 4Code 4: make sure the C-axis join is released (C-axis disengaged) in the program before the M151 block is executed.
  5. 5Compare the program against the correct sequence (e.g. M123 SC=100, M51 style ordering) and correct the block order.
  6. 6If the alarm returns after the program is corrected, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
