The MCS received illegal data from linear scale 1 (MITUTOYO) on the axis named in the object field. The code breaks down the scale status, error type, and position data to identify whether the scale itself, communication, or a gateway is at fault.

Okuma OSP Alarm P 0799 - MCS Linear scale 1 error
MCS Linear scale 1 error
The MCS received illegal data from linear scale 1 (MITUTOYO) on the axis named in the object field. The code breaks down the scale status, error type, and position data to identify whether the scale itself, communication, or a gateway is at fault.
Common Causes
Linear scale 1 (MITUTOYO) internal alarm: over speed, EEPROM, CPU, electric capacity, photo electron, digit match, or initialize error
Communication error between the scale and the control, or MITUTOYO scale no response / ID error
Gateway receive error or REQ time over in the scale interface
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code XX bit7 = Scale alarm active; code XX bit6/bit2 = Communication error (bit2: every detection); code XX=88, YY bits = bit7 over speed, bit6 communication error, bit5 EEPROM error, bit4 CPU error, bit3 electric capacity error, bit2 photo electron error, bit1 digit match error, bit0 initialize error; code XX=80, YY=43/44 = MITUTOYO scale no response / scale ID error; code XX=C0, YY = 00-3F gateway receive error, 46 REQ time over error; code ZZZZ = Linear scale 1 position data per 2 mm pitch
2Read the code: XX is the linear scale 1 status (bit7 alarm, bit6 communication error, bit2 communication error every detection, bit0 alarm code distinction), YY is the error detail, ZZZZ is the scale position data per 2 mm pitch.
3For XX=88, decode YY bits: over speed, communication error, EEPROM error, CPU error, electric capacity error, photo electron error, digit match error, initialize error; each points inside the MITUTOYO scale.
4For XX=80, YY=43 means MITUTOYO scale no response and 44 means scale ID error; check the scale wiring and connectors first.
5For XX=C0, YY 00-3F is a gateway receive error and 46 is a REQ time over error; check the gateway/interface between scale and control.
6Clean the scale tape and readhead, verify the cable, and if the error persists the corrective action is to change linear scale 1 as the manual directs.
