Okuma OSP Alarm P 0835 - MCS communication error

MCS communication error

An error occurred during handshake communication between the NC and the MCS drive controllers. The character string shows the handshake error number, error data and the command/channel/network address involved.

Common Causes

  • Faulty application software
  • Faulty MCS software

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Record the full character string: the 2-digit handshake communication error number, 8-digit error data, and the command name, channel number and network address of the controller involved.
  2. 2Check which MCS unit sits at the network address shown and inspect its LEDs for abnormal status.
  3. 3The manual lists faulty application software or faulty MCS software as the causes, so after noting versions, reload or update the application software first.
  4. 4If the error continues, update or replace the MCS software on the affected controller as the manual directs.
  5. 5If it returns after these checks, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
