Okuma OSP Alarm P 0821 - Spindle gear ratio

Spindle gear ratio

The gear ratio data in the servo data PBU file (SVGU*.PBU) for spindle speed control is wrong. Either the gear ratio code is out of range, the directly-specified data is out of range, or a high-speed cam grinding specification has invalid gear ratio settings.

Common Causes

  • Gear ratio code in the servo data PBU file not in the valid range $2F-$3F
  • Directly specified gear ratio data not in the range 0-2048 (or 7200)
  • High-speed cam grinding spec using a gear ratio code, or X/C-axis gear ratio data out of range

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Gear ratio data set by gear ratio code; code 2 = Direct setting of gear ratio data; code 3 = X-axis gear ratio data set by code; code 4 = C-axis gear ratio data set by code; code 5 = X-axis gear ratio data outside the setting range; code 6 = C-axis gear ratio data outside the setting range
  2. 2Read the code: 1 means gear ratio data set by gear ratio code, 2 means direct setting of gear ratio data, 3 means X-axis gear ratio data set by code, 4 means C-axis gear ratio data set by code, 5 means X-axis gear ratio data outside the setting range, 6 means C-axis gear ratio data outside the setting range.
  3. 3Open the servo data PBU file (SVGU*.PBU) and locate the gear ratio data for the spindle (or X/C axis for codes 3-6).
  4. 4If a gear ratio code is used, confirm it is within $2F-$3F; if data is specified directly, confirm it is within 0-2048 (or 7200).
  5. 5For high-speed cam grinding specifications, do not use the gear ratio code method; set the data directly within range.
  6. 6Correct the gear ratio data in the servo data PBU file as the manual directs, then reload and power cycle to confirm the alarm clears.
