KRC0527

KUKA Robot KRC0527 - Start point equal to mid point

Start point equal to mid point

This alarm indicates that the start point and mid point (auxiliary point) in a spline or multi-point interpolation motion command are positioned too close together or are identical. The KUKA KRC controller requires sufficient spatial separation between these control points to properly calculate the interpolation path and ensure smooth motion execution.

Common Causes

  • Start point and mid point coordinates are identical or nearly identical in the program
  • Insufficient distance between waypoints in spline interpolation (less than controller tolerance threshold)
  • Incorrect point definition in motion instruction due to copy-paste error or variable assignment mistake
  • Rounding errors or precision loss when calculating waypoint positions from external data sources
  • Mid point not properly updated or refreshed in a looped or repeated motion sequence

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the motion instruction in the KRC program and verify that start point and mid point have distinct coordinate values with adequate separation
  2. 2Increase the distance between the start point and mid point by at least the minimum threshold required by the controller (typically 0.1-1.0 mm depending on configuration)
  3. 3Check variable assignments and data types to ensure waypoint coordinates are correctly calculated and not truncated or rounded excessively
  4. 4Use the KUKA smartPAD to manually jog to both points and measure the actual distance between them to confirm insufficient spacing
  5. 5Verify that spline interpolation parameters and path tolerance settings in the motion instruction are appropriate for the intended application
  6. 6Clear the alarm, save changes, and re-run the program after correcting point definitions to confirm the issue is resolved
