KUKA Robot KRC0529 - Backward motions not possible: finished subroutine

Backward motions not possible: finished subroutine

Backward motion cannot be executed because a motion command is located inside a subprogram that has already completed execution. The system prevents backward stepping through finished subprograms as it would create kinematic and execution state inconsistencies.

Common Causes

  • Attempting to reverse step through a subroutine call that has finished and returned to the main program
  • Motion block positioned inside a subprogram that cannot be re-entered in backward direction
  • Subroutine scope restrictions preventing backward traversal of executed motion statements
  • Program structure with nested subroutine calls blocking reverse execution path
  • Finished subroutine state being protected to maintain program execution integrity

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Move forward through the program execution rather than attempting backward motion through the finished subroutine
  2. 2Use the program trace or execution log to identify the exact point where the subroutine completed
  3. 3Restructure the program to avoid motion commands inside subroutines if backward stepping is critical
  4. 4Reset the program execution state and start forward execution from the subroutine entry point
  5. 5Review the KRL program logic to ensure subroutine motion commands execute within appropriate scope
  6. 6Contact KUKA technical support if program functionality requires backward motion through subroutine blocks
