KRC0348

KUKA Robot KRC0348 - ACKN. E<2 or 7 keyswitch> SWITCH CLOSED

ACKN. E<2 or 7 keyswitch> SWITCH CLOSED

This alarm indicates that the acknowledgment enable switch (keyswitch position 2 or 7) is in the closed/activated state when it should not be, preventing normal robot operation or program execution. The KRC controller detects a logic conflict with the enable switch configuration, which is a safety-critical input that must be properly managed to allow teach pendant control and robot motion authorization.

Common Causes

  • Keyswitch stuck in the ON/closed position due to mechanical wear or debris
  • Faulty keyswitch contact or internal switch failure preventing proper open state detection
  • Wiring issue or loose connection on the keyswitch circuit causing continuous signal
  • Teach pendant enable switch (2-hand control) remains activated without release
  • PLC input module malfunction incorrectly reading keyswitch state as constantly closed

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the physical keyswitch position is fully in the OFF position and moves freely without sticking or resistance
  2. 2Check the teach pendant 2-hand enable buttons are fully released and not held in the activated state
  3. 3Inspect the keyswitch wiring connectors at the controller and keyswitch assembly for corrosion, looseness, or damage
  4. 4Test the keyswitch continuity using a multimeter in both ON and OFF positions to confirm proper electrical behavior
  5. 5Perform a hardware diagnostics check in the KUKA system software to verify the actual input signal state from the keyswitch circuit
  6. 6If keyswitch tests fail, replace the keyswitch assembly and recalibrate the safety input in the KRC controller configuration
