KUKA Robot KRC0198 - SEN: <string> ** **

SEN: <string> ** **

KRC0198 is a non-critical sensor hint message generated by the KUKA KRC controller when a monitored sensor detects a condition that warrants operator attention but does not require immediate robot program termination. This alarm type provides early warning of potential sensor degradation, environmental interference, or threshold approach conditions without interrupting ongoing robot operations.

Common Causes

  • Sensor signal approaching but not exceeding alarm threshold limits
  • Environmental interference such as dust, coolant mist, or electromagnetic noise affecting sensor readings
  • Partial sensor obstruction or degraded optical/inductive sensor lens or window
  • Sensor calibration drift due to temperature fluctuations or aging
  • Loose sensor connections or corroded electrical contacts causing intermittent signal quality issues

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the complete alarm message to identify which specific sensor generated the hint and note the sensor parameter value
  2. 2Inspect the identified sensor for physical damage, contamination, or misalignment and clean sensor lens/window with appropriate materials
  3. 3Verify sensor cable connections are secure and examine connectors for corrosion or moisture ingress; reconnect or replace cable as needed
  4. 4Check sensor mounting brackets and fasteners for looseness; tighten and ensure proper sensor positioning and orientation
  5. 5Perform sensor calibration routine through KUKA.Calibrate or equivalent diagnostic tool to reset baseline values and verify signal stability
  6. 6Monitor sensor readings over time using KUKA SmartPAD or diagnostic interface to confirm signal stabilization; if hint recurs, replace the sensor
