KUKA Robot KRC0197 - ERROR RESTART I/O <bus/driver name>

ERROR RESTART I/O <bus/driver name>

This alarm indicates that a field bus communication error persists after the controller attempted to restart the I/O interface or bus driver. The field bus (such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, or EtherCAT) connection between the KRC controller and peripheral devices remains disconnected or non-responsive, preventing proper data exchange.

Common Causes

  • Faulty or damaged field bus cable connection between controller and devices
  • Field bus device is offline, powered down, or not responding
  • Incorrect field bus configuration or address assignment in the I/O module
  • Corrupted or incompatible device firmware or field bus driver
  • Electrical interference or signal integrity issues on the field bus network

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power cycle the KRC controller and all connected field bus devices, then attempt restart
  2. 2Physically inspect and reseat all field bus cable connectors on both controller and peripheral devices
  3. 3Verify that all field bus devices are powered on and operational using their diagnostic LEDs or status indicators
  4. 4Check the field bus configuration in the KRC controller using SmartPAD or KUKA.Workbench to confirm device addresses and parameters match the actual hardware setup
  5. 5Test field bus communication with a diagnostic tool or temporarily isolate devices one at a time to identify which device is causing the fault
  6. 6If issues persist, update or reinstall the field bus driver software and verify compatibility with the current KRC firmware version
