KRC0094

KUKA Robot KRC0094 - MOTOR CABLE **

MOTOR CABLE **

This alarm indicates a motor cable fault or communication error detected by the KUKA KRC controller on one or more robot axes. The controller has identified an issue with the electrical connection, continuity, or signal integrity of the motor power or feedback cable, preventing proper axis control and motion.

Common Causes

  • Damaged, pinched, or kinked motor cable in the umbilical or axis routing
  • Loose or corroded connector pins at the motor terminal box or controller interface
  • High-voltage spike or EMI interference corrupting motor encoder feedback signals
  • Broken wire or internal cable fracture from repetitive flexing or mechanical wear
  • Incorrect cable routing causing intermittent contact loss during robot motion

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Identify which axis is affected from the controller display or diagnostic menu and note the complete alarm code with wildcard information
  2. 2Power down the robot system completely and visually inspect the motor cable for visible damage, cuts, or improper crimping along its entire length
  3. 3Verify all connectors at both the motor terminal box and KRC controller are fully seated and tightened; clean connector pins with electrical contact cleaner if corrosion is present
  4. 4Use a multimeter to perform cable continuity and insulation resistance testing according to KUKA specifications; replace the cable if resistance values fall outside acceptable ranges
  5. 5Re-route the motor cable away from high-voltage power lines and servo drives; ensure proper cable management with strain relief and secured harnesses to prevent future flexing damage
  6. 6Power on the system and clear the alarm; if the fault persists, perform a KRC controller reset or contact KUKA service as the motor or encoder may require replacement
