KRC0096

KUKA Robot KRC0096 - FAILURE OF CABINET INTERIOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR <AXIS NUMBER>

FAILURE OF CABINET INTERIOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR <AXIS NUMBER>

This alarm indicates that the internal temperature sensor located within the control cabinet has failed or is not communicating properly with the KRC controller for the specified axis. The controller continuously monitors cabinet interior temperature to prevent thermal damage to sensitive electronics and ensure optimal operating conditions. When the sensor signal is lost, interrupted, or reads an invalid value, the KRC system triggers this alarm to alert the operator of potential cooling system failure or sensor malfunction.

Common Causes

  • Defective or aging temperature sensor element (RTD or thermistor)
  • Loose, corroded, or damaged sensor connector pins in the cabinet
  • Broken sensor wiring or cable continuity failure
  • Failed analog input module or sensor signal conditioning circuit on the control board
  • Excessive cabinet interior temperature causing sensor damage or control electronics malfunction

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power down the robot controller completely and allow cabinet to cool for at least 30 minutes before inspection
  2. 2Visually inspect the temperature sensor connector and wiring harness for corrosion, moisture, loose connections, or physical damage
  3. 3Reseat the temperature sensor connector by disconnecting and reconnecting firmly to ensure proper contact
  4. 4Use a multimeter to test sensor resistance values against KUKA specifications and verify continuity of sensor wiring
  5. 5Check cabinet cooling fan operation and verify airflow is not obstructed; clean intake filters if necessary
  6. 6If sensor and wiring are intact, request replacement of the temperature sensor module or contact KUKA service for analog input board diagnostics and potential replacement
