600-02DF

HEIDENHAIN 600-02DF - No tool found. The plunging depth of the tool is insufficient.

No tool found. The plunging depth of the tool is insufficient.

No suitable tool was found for the automatic workpiece generation. This may be due to incorrect tool geometry parameters or unsuitable tool types.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 600-02DF occurs when the Automatic Tool Measurement (AWG) system determines that no available tools have sufficient plunging depth for the programmed operation. The TNC optimization routine evaluates all tools in the tool table and rejects them as unsuitable based on geometry constraints.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Access tool table

Press MOD key, select 'Tool table' from machine operating mode menu to access tool management.

Use F4 'All tools' to see complete tool inventory

  2. 2

    Verify tool geometry

Check columns L (tool length), DL (delta length), and R (radius) for the selected tool number referenced in %1 parameter.

Negative DL values will reduce effective tool length

  3. 3

    Measure tool length

Use 'Tool measurement' softkey or cycle TCH PROBE 31 to automatically measure and update tool length parameters.

Enable 'Write to tool table' option in measurement cycle

  4. 4

    Validate plunging depth calculation

Check that L + DL value provides sufficient reach for programmed Z-depth plus safety clearance.

Consider spindle nose to table distance in calculation

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·AWG probe hardware failure
  • ·Machine parameter corruption
  • ·Spindle encoder issues affecting tool measurement

Prevention

  • Regularly verify tool table data accuracy
  • Perform periodic AWG probe calibration
  • Use consistent tool measurement procedures
  • Monitor tool wear and update geometry parameters

Common Mistakes

  • Forgetting to measure new tools before use
  • Using incorrect tool length compensation values
  • Ignoring tool table status indicators
  • Not accounting for tool holder variations in length calculations
