231-A083

HEIDENHAIN 231-A083 - A083 CC S input not equal to 0 in dynamic test

A083 CC S input not equal to 0 in dynamic test

During the cyclic dynamic test of the second emergency-stop loop, the S input did not read 0 V as expected. Either the monitored contacts did not switch, or the test time window was too short because of computing-time or software problems.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 231-A083 occurs when the second emergency stop loop's dynamic safety test detects a continuous 24V signal at safety-related inputs (door contacts, keylocks, switches) during the mandatory 100ms test window that occurs every 1.5 minutes. The TNC expects all safety inputs to drop to 0V during this test to verify proper circuit functionality.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Access Safety Input Status

Navigate to MOD > System > Safety > Input Status to view real-time status of all safety inputs in CC2 (second safety loop).

Use the live display to identify which specific input remains high during normal operation

  2. 2

    Physical Inspection of Safety Devices

Inspect all door contacts, keylock switches, and E-stop buttons connected to CC2. Check for mechanical binding, contamination, or visible damage.

Ensure machine is in safe state and follow LOTO procedures before inspecting safety devices

  3. 3

    Electrical Continuity Check

With power off, measure continuity across safety contacts. Normally closed contacts should show 0 ohms when closed, infinite when open.

Check wiring at X118/X119 safety connector terminals for loose connections or corrosion

  4. 4

    Replace Faulty Safety Component

Replace the identified faulty safety device and verify proper wiring connections to the TNC safety inputs.

Safety devices must be identical part numbers or approved equivalents to maintain safety certification

Service Recommendedmedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Safety module hardware failure suspected
  • ·Configuration changes required
  • ·Multiple safety inputs affected
  • ·Alarm persists after basic troubleshooting

Prevention

  • Regular inspection of safety device mechanical operation
  • Periodic safety circuit continuity testing
  • Proper cable routing and strain relief maintenance
  • Keep safety system configuration backed up

Common Mistakes

  • Bypassing safety devices during troubleshooting
  • Using non-safety rated components for repairs
  • Modifying safety parameters without proper authorization
  • Ignoring intermittent safety alarms
