221-006F

HEIDENHAIN 221-006F - Faulty kinematics configuration Active kinematics contains an invalid insertion point.

Faulty kinematics configuration Active kinematics contains an invalid insertion point.

The active kinematic model includes an invalid insertion point for a tool-carrier sub-model under CfgKinToolSocket. Only one such socket is allowed, and it must sit at the correct place in the chain.

Root Cause Summary

The active kinematic transformation definition contains a reference to an insertion point that either does not exist in the configuration file or is improperly defined. This typically results from corrupted configuration files, manual editing errors, or incomplete kinematic data after configuration changes. The control cannot establish the proper kinematic chain without valid insertion point definitions at all referenced locations.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Identify active kinematic number

Press MOD key, navigate to Machine Parameters, and note the kinematic number shown in alarm %1. This identifies which KINEMATICSXXX.CFG file is problematic.

Write down the exact kinematic number - it will be needed to locate the correct configuration file.

  2. 2

    Access kinematic configuration file

In Programming and Editing mode, press PGM MGT key, navigate to TNC:\system\Kinematic\ directory and open the corresponding KINEMATICSXXX.CFG file for inspection.

Do not edit system files unless you have proper backup and authorization from machine tool builder.

  3. 3

    Verify insertion point definitions

Search for 'INSERTION_POINT' entries in the configuration file. Check that every insertion point index referenced in the kinematic chain (typically 0, 1, 2, etc.) has a complete definition block with position and orientation data.

Valid insertion point definitions must include position vectors and proper syntax. Missing brackets, commas, or values will trigger this alarm.

  4. 4

Restore from backup or factory default

If insertion point definitions are missing or corrupted, restore the kinematic configuration from a known good backup. If unavailable, contact the machine tool builder for the correct configuration file for your specific machine model.

Never use kinematic files from different machine models - this can cause crashes and damage.

DIY Feasiblemedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Kinematic model corruption requires complete rebuild
  • ·Multiple related alarms persist after configuration fixes
  • ·Machine geometry measurements needed for socket positioning

Prevention

  • Always backup kinematic configurations before modifications
  • Validate kinematic models after any software updates
  • Use proper shutdown procedures to prevent file corruption

Common Mistakes

  • Modifying kinematic parameters without understanding machine geometry
  • Importing configurations from different machine models
  • Not validating socket coordinate systems before implementation
