1A0-00D8

HEIDENHAIN 1A0-00D8 - Cylinder axis is not parallel to rotary axis.

Cylinder axis is not parallel to rotary axis.

The programmed cylinder axis is not parallel to the rotary axis under the table. This can occur when the cylinder is off-center, the first table-axis is not rotary, or the machine-table coordinate system is misaligned.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm indicates the TNC's kinematic model validation has detected that the mathematical definition of the cylinder axis is not parallel to the rotary axis definition within acceptable tolerances. This typically results from incorrect machine parameter entries during initial setup, failed KinematicsOpt calibration, or actual mechanical misalignment of the machine axes requiring physical adjustment.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Access Machine Parameter Editor

Press MOD key, select 'Machine parameters', enter password, and navigate to the kinematic axis definition section. Locate parameters MP7500.0, MP7500.1, MP7500.2 which define the cylinder axis orientation vector [X,Y,Z] components.

Incorrect machine parameter modification can cause machine crashes. Document all original values before making changes.

  2. 2

    Verify Rotary Axis Orientation Parameters

Check MP7110.0, MP7110.1, MP7110.2 (or corresponding parameters for your rotary axis designation) which define the rotary axis orientation vector. For a standard C-axis parallel to Z, this should be [0,0,1]. The cylinder axis vector must match this orientation.

Use the Machine Parameter documentation (press HELP key while parameter is highlighted) to confirm which MP number corresponds to your specific rotary axis designation (A, B, or C).

  3. 3

    Align Vector Definitions

Ensure both the cylinder axis vector (MP7500.x) and rotary axis vector (MP710x.x) have identical normalized direction components. For Z-parallel configuration, both should be [0,0,±1]. Adjust the cylinder axis parameters to match rotary axis orientation.

Vector components must be unit vectors (magnitude = 1). For example, [0,0,1] is correct, but [0,0,10] will cause errors.

  4. 4

    Save and Reboot Control

After modifying machine parameters, save changes and perform a complete control restart (not just emergency stop reset). The TNC must reinitialize the kinematic model with the new parameter values.

Perform a dry run test of all axis movements after parameter changes to verify proper kinematics before running production parts.

Call a technician if:

  • ·Machine parameter changes required
  • ·Mechanical alignment issues detected
  • ·Repeated probe calibration failures

Prevention

  • Establish daily probe calibration routine
  • Implement workpiece setup procedures with alignment verification
  • Monitor machine warm-up completion before precision operations
  • Regular machine geometry verification schedule

Common Mistakes

  • Skipping machine warm-up before probing
  • Using worn or damaged probe tips
  • Incorrect workpiece clamping sequence
  • Ignoring probe calibration expiration warnings
