HEIDENHAIN 140-0050 - Impermissible data object for file

Impermissible data object for file

A data object is saved in an impermissible location. It either cannot be stored in a parameter file or must be on the PLC: or SYS: drive.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm is triggered by the control's file management system when it encounters a mismatch between the expected data object type and the actual object being accessed. The TNC control strictly validates file types and object permissions to maintain system integrity, and this alarm prevents potentially harmful operations on incompatible or protected data objects.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Access Program Management

Press PGM MGT key to open the file manager. Navigate to the location where you attempted the file operation.

Directories are shown with a folder icon, while executable programs show a document icon with .H extension.

  2. 2

    Navigate into the directory

If you see a folder icon, press SELECT or ENT key to open the directory, then select the actual .H file inside rather than the directory itself.

  3. 3

    Verify file selection

Ensure the highlighted object shows a valid file extension (.H, .TAB, .PNT) in the file information area at the bottom of the screen before attempting to open or execute.
