HEIDENHAIN 141-004D - Value must not be changed

Value must not be changed

The control rejected an attempt to edit read-only attribute data that the OEM is not allowed to modify. This usually happens when a parameter file is edited directly rather than through the intended dialog.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm is a protective measure preventing unauthorized or unsafe modification of critical control parameters and table entries. The Heidenhain TNC employs multiple levels of write protection including physical KEY switch, software passwords (MOD function), configuration file restrictions, and PLC-based interlocks to maintain system integrity and prevent accidental changes during operation.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Verify KEY switch position

Turn the physical KEY switch on the control panel to position 2 (Setup/MDI) or position 3 (Programming). Position 0 (locked) and 1 (Operating) restrict most parameter changes.

Position 3 provides full access but should only be used during setup - always return to position 1 for production to prevent accidental changes.

  2. 2

    Attempt modification again

After changing KEY position, navigate back to the parameter or table entry and attempt the modification. The control should now accept the change.

Some parameters require machine to be de-referenced or powered down before modification is accepted.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter changes require OEM authorization
  • ·Servo drive hardware replacement needed
  • ·Software update required

Prevention

  • Always backup parameters before making changes
  • Verify parameter file compatibility before import
  • Use only manufacturer-approved parameter modifications
  • Maintain current software documentation

Common Mistakes

  • Importing parameters from different machine models
  • Attempting to modify encoder parameters without proper authorization
  • Using parameter files from different TNC software versions
  • Bypassing parameter protection warnings
