HEIDENHAIN 140-0064 - Software option is disabled by the configuration

Software option is disabled by the configuration

A licensed software feature has been disabled at the configuration level, so the control refuses to use it even though the SIK shows it as enabled. Watch for unexpected behavior such as missing collision monitoring.

Root Cause Summary

The control is attempting to execute a function that requires a specific software option license that is either not purchased, not activated, or has been administratively disabled in the machine or control configuration. This is a license enforcement mechanism built into Heidenhain TNC controls to manage optional functionality based on purchased feature sets.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Identify required software option

Read the complete alarm message on screen to identify which software option name appears in the '%1' placeholder (e.g., 'Advanced Function Set', 'KinematicsOpt', '5-Axis Option', etc.).

  2. 2

    Check enabled software options

Press MOD key, navigate to 'System Configuration' or 'Diagnostics' > 'Software Options' or 'Info' > 'System Info' > 'Software Options'. Review the list of enabled options with checkmarks or 'Active' status.

Different TNC generations show this differently: TNC 320/iTNC 530 under 'MOD Info', TNC 620/640 under 'Setup' > 'Software Options'.

  3. 3

    Document KeyNumber and ID

In MOD, check 'System Info' to note the control ID number and existing KeyNumbers. This information is required when ordering additional software options from Heidenhain or the machine builder.

  4. 4

    Contact supplier for option code

Contact your machine tool builder or Heidenhain service partner with the control ID and required option name to purchase and receive the proper KeyNumber activation code.

  5. 5

    Activate software option

Once KeyNumber is received, enter MOD function > 'System Configuration' > 'KeyNumber Input' and enter the new option code. Control will require restart to activate the new option.

KeyNumber entry is case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as provided. Incorrect entries may require waiting period before retry.
