Causes and Fixes
Access Error Log Details
Press MOD key, navigate to System Information > Error Messages. Document the complete alarm text including the '%1' parameter content which shows the exact unrecognized message string.
The '%1' parameter content often reveals which configuration command failed - look for truncated text or non-standard characters indicating file corruption.
Boot in Service Mode
Power cycle the control and hold the MOD key during startup to enter Service Mode. This bypasses normal configuration file loading and allows access to file system without executing corrupted configuration.
Service Mode disables normal machine operation. Only use for diagnostic purposes.
Examine System Configuration Files
Navigate to TNC:\system\ directory using File Manager. Check timestamps on sysconfig.sys, TNC.SYS and files in TNC:\system\config\ for recent unexpected modifications. Look for zero-byte files or unusual file sizes.
Compare file sizes with backup or previous known-good state - significant size changes indicate corruption or unintended modifications.
Restore Configuration Backup
If backup exists in TNC:\system\backup\ or external media, copy known-good configuration files to TNC:\system\. Restart control normally to verify alarm clears with valid configuration files.
Always maintain dated backups of TNC:\system\ directory after successful machine setup or configuration changes.
