HEIDENHAIN 126-0114 - Automatic switch-off not possible

Automatic switch-off not possible

Automatic machine switch-off after control shutdown cannot be enabled because the IO setup and the real hardware do not match. Simulation mode, mismatched IOC file, or wrong options may be involved.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm is triggered when the control's automatic shutdown routine detects that machine or program states are not safe for power-off. The TNC control performs multiple safety checks before allowing automatic switch-off, including verification that all motion has stopped, programs have terminated properly, and no critical processes are active. The alarm prevents unexpected interruption of operations that could cause data loss or unsafe machine states.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check program execution status

Switch to Program Run (Full Sequence or Single Block) mode and observe the status bar. Look for 'INTERRUPTED', 'STOPPED', or 'WAITING' indicators. Press the STOP button to ensure program execution is fully halted.

The status bar at the bottom of the screen shows exact program state - 'Program aborted' indicates clean stop, while 'Program interrupted' will block shutdown.

  2. 2

    Terminate program properly

If program is interrupted or waiting, either continue execution to reach M02/M30, or press the PGM MGT key and select 'Cancel program' to force termination. Ensure the program counter resets to beginning or shows 'Program ended'.

Forcing program cancellation may lose current workpiece coordinate offsets if not saved in preset table.

  3. 3

    Reset NC kernel

If program state remains unclear, select Manual mode, then press the END key or perform an emergency stop reset. This forces the NC kernel to idle state and clears any pending program execution.

After manual reset, check the position display to verify REF status is maintained on all axes before attempting shutdown again.
