HEIDENHAIN 125-0117 - The connection list is full

The connection list is full

This TNC7/TNC 640 error (125-0117) relates to 'The connection list is full'. The maximum number of configurable connections has been reached.

Root Cause Summary

The TNC control maintains a fixed-size internal table for managing communication connections and internal process links. When this table reaches capacity due to accumulated active connections or improper resource deallocation, the control cannot establish new connections and generates alarm 125-0117. This is fundamentally a resource exhaustion issue within the control's connection management system.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Active Network Connections

Press MOD key, navigate to 'Network Settings' or 'System Information', and review active connections. Check for multiple simultaneous TNCremo or LSV2 client sessions that may be consuming connection resources.

On TNC 640 controls, use the extended diagnostic view in MOD > TeleService > Connection Overview to see detailed connection statistics.

  2. 2

    Disconnect Unused Clients

Close all unnecessary DNC software, tool management applications, and remote monitoring tools. Verify each application properly disconnects from the control rather than leaving sessions open.

Coordinate with production to ensure no active DNC transfers are interrupted during disconnection.

  3. 3

    Implement Connection Limits

Configure the LSV2 connection limit in system parameters. Access MOD > System Parameters > Communication and set appropriate maximum connection values to prevent resource exhaustion.

Typical reliable operation uses no more than 3-5 simultaneous LSV2 connections on TNC 530/620/640 controls.

  4. 4

    Restart Control

Perform a controlled shutdown and restart of the TNC control to clear the connection list and release all allocated connection resources.

Ensure machine is in safe state and all programs are stopped before restarting the control.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Network configuration corruption persists after factory reset
  • ·Hardware network interface failure suspected
  • ·Alarm occurs immediately after control startup

Prevention

  • Configure appropriate connection timeouts in MP7230-MP7241
  • Implement proper connection cleanup in external applications
  • Monitor network connection usage regularly
  • Use connection pooling in custom applications

Common Mistakes

  • Setting connection limits too high without considering system resources
  • Not properly closing connections in external applications
  • Ignoring TIME_WAIT socket accumulation
  • Performing network resets during active machining operations
