Haas 402 - POSSIBLE CORRUPTED FILE | Haas CNC Alarm

POSSIBLE CORRUPTED FILE

This alarm is triggered when the control detects a file structure error, checksum mismatch, or incomplete data while attempting to read or execute a program from memory or during file transfer. The MOCON board file system encounters corrupted sectors or invalid formatting that prevents proper program loading. The machine will halt operation to prevent execution of incorrect or dangerous code.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 402 Tool Clamp Timeout occurs when the spindle's tool clamping mechanism fails to engage or disengage within the programmed time limit. This is typically caused by insufficient air pressure, worn drawbar components, or incorrect parameter settings for clamp timing.

Safety

  • Verify tool is clamped before running

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Air Pressure at Gauge

Verify air pressure at the machine gauge reads 80-90 PSI minimum. Check the air pressure regulator near the spindle air cylinder.

Ensure spindle is stopped and machine is in reset before checking air connections.

  2. 2

    Inspect Air Lines and Fittings

Check all pneumatic lines from the air solenoid valve to the spindle for leaks, kinks, or loose fittings. Listen for air leaks during tool change cycle.

Use soapy water to identify small air leaks that may not be audible.

  3. 3

    Test Air Solenoid Operation

Access DIAGNOSTICS > I/O and manually activate the tool clamp solenoid. Verify proper air flow and pressure during activation.

The solenoid should make a distinct clicking sound when energized.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Drawbar replacement required
  • ·Spindle disassembly needed
  • ·Electrical sensor replacement in spindle head

Prevention

  • Maintain 80-90 PSI air pressure
  • Regular drawbar lubrication per PM schedule
  • Keep tool tapers clean and debris-free
  • Monitor clamp force readings quarterly

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring gradual air pressure drops
  • Over-tightening sensor mounting hardware
  • Setting timeout parameter too low
  • Using damaged or worn tool holders
