Haas Alarm 1001 - Mist Collector Error

Mist Collector

This alarm indicates the mist collector system has failed to start or has lost proper operation during machining. The MOCON board monitors the mist collector motor feedback signal through a relay or pressure switch input to verify system operation. When this alarm triggers, the machine will typically pause or stop the cycle to prevent coolant mist accumulation in the enclosure.

Root Cause Summary

HAAS Alarm 1001 fires when the NGC control cannot verify proper mist collector operation through the auxiliary I/O feedback loop. This typically occurs due to missing run-confirm signals, parameter mismatches in Settings 81-84, or physical faults in the mist collector unit itself.

Safety

  • Mist may accumulate

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Mist Collector Power

Verify mist collector unit has proper 120V/240V power and main breaker is ON. Check for tripped breakers or blown fuses at the collector.

Lockout/tagout main power before checking electrical connections

  2. 2

    Verify Feedback Wiring

Check the run-confirm feedback wire from mist collector to NGC I/O board. Typically connected to auxiliary input terminal, verify continuity and proper voltage levels.

Use multimeter to verify 24VDC signal present when collector is running

  3. 3

    Test Collector Manual Operation

Manually start mist collector at the unit. If it runs but NGC still shows alarm, the feedback circuit is faulty. If it won't start manually, internal collector fault exists.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·NGC I/O board replacement required
  • ·Complex mist collector internal repairs needed
  • ·Electrical panel modifications required

Prevention

  • Regular mist collector filter maintenance
  • Periodic inspection of control wiring
  • Keep electrical connections clean and tight
  • Monitor mist collector performance indicators

Common Mistakes

  • Forgetting to set Setting 81 to OFF when no mist collector installed
  • Not checking mist collector power before troubleshooting NGC control
  • Ignoring mist collector fault indicators
  • Testing I/O with collector still connected
